To save your time, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite LED roller skate wheels for both quad roller skates, rollerblades and inline skates.

Let’s check them out!

The Best LED Light Up Roller Skate Wheels Reviewed

Choosing the best light up roller skate wheels can be challenging. So, in this section, I’ll thoroughly review the top quad and inline LED roller skate wheels available on the market.

1. Volcanic Indoor / Outdoor Light Up Roller Skate Wheels – Best Overall

  • For quad roller skates
  • 4 pack
  • Size: 62 mm
  • Durometer (hardness): 85A (perfect for both indoor and outdoor)
  • No wheel battery replacements needed
  • Comes with a ABEC 9 bearings pre-installed

I’m kicking off the list with Volcanic LED roller skate wheels – my top choice of light up roller skate wheels on Roller Skate Nation. Volcanic’s wheels are beautiful. They just look so pretty when you are moving. You can see a small sample of what they look like in action in the image below.

The roller skate wheels are great, they look beautiful and they instantly light up upon the slightest movement!

One of my main reasons for making this wheel a top pick is because they are good both indoors and outdoors. At a durometer reading of 85A, the Dazzle light up wheels will work well on most surfaces.

Also, these wheels come with brand new roller skate bearings already pre-installed. They are ABEC-9 bearings. So, buy a set of these wheels and you don’t have to worry about buying additional bearings or learning how to remove bearings from roller skate wheels.

What I Like

  • Works on indoor and outdoor surfaces
  • Comes with ABEC-9 bearings already installed
  • Suitable for beginners and pros
  • Can roll smoothly on all surfaces
  • Instant, bright wheel illumination with any movement

What I Don’t Like

  • For wheel replacements of a pair of skates, you have to purchase two of the product
  • Wheels aren’t available in solid colors for some purchasers’ taste

2. Florybercea Light Up Roller Skate Wheels – Runner-Up

  • For quad roller skates
  • 4 pack
  • Size: 32 mm x 58 mm
  • No wheel battery replacements needed
  • Comes with a pack of 10 bearings and a pack of 5 wheel cores

A close runner-up is the Florybercea Luminous LED roller skate wheels, one of my top choices of light up roller skate wheels on Amazon. Florybercea’s wheels are an awesome purchase for professional and casual roller skating due to their comfortability and stability on all skating surfaces.

The wheels are great for roller derby, and it’s impressive how they instantly light up upon the slightest movement!

Another feature I liked is that they provide balance while skaters do quick turns. Because they’re made of polyurethane material, they offer excellent control and traction over indoor and outdoor surfaces.

They’re perfect for short and long skating sessions for years ahead, as this material has great resistance against abrasion.

One of my personal favorites about Florybercea’s seemingly forever-luminous wheels is that they roll silently, and their lights are powered by your rolling force. The faster you skate, the brighter your light show is! The wheels illuminate colorful rainbow hues and not a solid color.

Moreover, the complimentary 608 bearings and wheel cores that come along are an addition to the list of pros of these light up wheels.

What I Like

  • Suitable for beginners and pros
  • Can roll smoothly on all surfaces
  • Instant, bright wheel illumination with any movement
  • Doesn’t leave scuff marks on surfaces

What I Don’t Like

  • For wheel replacements of a pair of skates, you have to purchase two of the product
  • Wheels aren’t available in solid colors for some purchasers’ taste

3. VAKA Luminous Light Up Quad Roller Skate Wheels – Best Color Variety

  • For quad roller skates
  • 4 pack
  • Size: 32 mm x 58 mm
  • Comes with 10 bearings and 5 wheel cores

VAKA Luminous Light Up Wheels are wonderful if you’re looking for versatility in your color choice paired with quality. This earns VAKA a bonus point over competitors.

This feature helps if you’re a parent looking for wheels that allow you to distinguish your kid among fellow skaters. Or it can be for simply choosing the color that best matches your taste!

The urethane material VAKA’s wheels are made of provides flexibility for silent and smooth rolling on different surfaces. It’s true that they’re a good choice for roller derby, indoor roller skate wheels or outdoor roller skates. But for avid skaters, the material sometimes may not do well when it comes to stability.

What I like about VAKA is that they answer all customers’ questions. For instance, you can reach out to them to check if their wheels are compatible with a specific brand of skates or not. Customer care is always a great plus!

What I Like

  • Customer care agents answer to questions, as promised
  • Color variation suits all preferences, making it a good gift option
  • Continuous bright wheel illumination

What I Don’t Like

  • Not enough rigidity of wheel material
  • Wheels may not be safe for quick maneuvers by pros
  • For wheel replacements of a pair of skates, you have to purchase two of the product

4. Skylety LED Light-Up Roller Skate Wheels – Best for Beginners

  • For quad roller skates and skateboards
  • 8 pack
  • Size: 32 mm x 58 mm
  • Wheels are made of silicone material
  • Wheels come with bearings attached
  • Comes with extra 4 bearings, 2 wheel cores, and 1 installation wrench

Skylety LED Light Up Roller Skate Wheels are competitive light-up wheels that have a spot among my top choices for their affordability. With a single purchase of a pack, you get 8 light-up wheels.

Because they’re made of silicone, they may be a better choice for beginners compared to professional skaters.

Silicone is a durable material that provides an excellent grip on surfaces, especially indoors. However, it may not roll as smoothly outdoors for long distances. This makes the wheels perfect for dancing and short rhythmic moves! Not to mention that their tight grip makes them work well with skateboard maneuvers.

Skylety LED wheels earn a point for being user-friendly with already attached bearings and replacement pieces. They’re a budget-friendly purchase that’ll last through beginners’ learning journey.

What I Like

  • You don’t have to buy 2 of the product for a pair of skates
  • An affordable choice for beginners
  • Bright illumination and color variety

What I Don’t Like

  • Don’t light up at a slow speed
  • May not be safe for quick maneuvers by pros

5. Firefly New Light-Up Quad Roller Skate Wheels – Best for Smooth surfaces

  • For quad roller skates
  • 8 pack
  • Sizes: 32 x 58 and 32 x 62 mm

The Firefly New Light Up Roller Skate Wheels are a good fit for smooth surfaces. The urethane material makes them a great option for skaters who are into roller derby or skating on rinks in general.

They come with Abec bearings attached, making their installation on your skates easier. Moreover, the Firefly wheels are available in two sizes.

Compared to other quad light-up wheels we reviewed, they may not offer the best light-up show. Yet, they still give a beautiful blend of colors.

Overall, the performance of the Firefly wheels on smooth floors earns them a star!

What I Like

  • Wheels come in a pack of 8
  • Excellent rolling on smooth surfaces

What I Don’t Like

  • The bearings aren’t the best quality compared to others on the list
  • Not the best choice for rough surfaces

6. Rollerex Glowrider LED Light Up Rollerblade / Inline Skate Wheels – Most Versatile

For inline skates, Rollerex Glowrider LED Light Up Wheels are my top pick. I like that they’re compatible with all inline skates. They also come in a few sizes and different colors. You can even buy a mix of colors for a more fashionable look!

The 92A wheels offer a suitable combination of flexibility and rigidity, making them ideal for rolling on all surfaces. This also lessens resistance while rolling, simultaneously providing higher speed.

Moreover, Rollerex offers a full refund within 30 days from purchase, which earns them a huge bonus point.

The downside is that you have to buy several packs, as one pack has only two wheels.

What I Like

  • Versatile wheels
  • Color variety
  • Well-made wheels making them suitable for different surfaces

What I Don’t Like

  • One pack has  2 wheels only
  • LED lights aren’t as flashy compared to other wheels

7. You-beat-you-land Light Up Led Inline Skate Wheels – Best Fashionable Design

  • For rollerblades
  • 4 pack
  • Sizes: 24 mm x 70/72/76/80 mm
  • Comes with bearings and spacers

You-beat-you-land Light Up Led Inline Skate Wheels are one of the coolest found on Amazon for the unique design imprinted on the wheels. Their fashionable design is a huge plus.

Alongside the cool aesthetic imprint paired with these wheels’ light up feature, they come in a wider size variety compared to other wheels. They also work well with most skates and on other products like scooters and skateboards.

It’s worth mentioning that the brand works on resolving all issues with the purchased products.

What I Like

  • Versatile compatibility
  • Color variety
  • Aesthetic design on wheels
  • Comes with bearings installed
  • Flexible customer service

What I Don’t Like

  • Pre-installed Abec bearings may be weak

Features to Consider When Buying Light Up Wheels

There are a few features to consider when choosing light up wheels. These include the wheel bearings, wheel materials, and lights. Let’s check them out!

Wheel Bearings

A huge determinant of an enjoyable roller skating experience is the quality of bearings on the wheels. Wheel bearings affect the speed and smoothness of your skating. As I’ve stated in many of my bearing articles, the most important aspect of a bearing is that it is clean.

Bearings made of ceramic and titanium work best with friction and don’t expand with heat. This makes them best for professionals, as they also don’t require much lubrication. Steel bearings are resistant to wear, but they need more lubrication.

Wheel Materials

Materials determine whether your skates will be able to glide well on all surfaces or not. However, the type of surface you skate on should be how you pick wheel material.

Polyurethane (PU) is the most preferred material choice for both a beginner and a pro. The hardness of the material lessens its wear with time, making it last the longest. PU wheels do well on rough and sleek surfaces.

Silicone is one of the good choices for beginners as it has a great grip on smoother floors and can withstand friction heat. For skating with more dance action, this grip may not be in favor of the skater.

LED Wheel Lights

When buying light up wheels for your skates, you should look for how fast the lights come on and how long they continue to glow. Not all wheels light up instantly. Some wheels require faster speed to light up.

It’s also a good idea to look for wheels with LED lights powered by their magnetic core and the centrifugal force of skating, not ones that require battery replacements.

Wrap Up

After reviewing the top picks, my favorite is definitely the Dazzle light-up roller skate wheels. They roll smoothly, light up instantly, and are suitable for both beginners and pros.

If you’re looking for wheels for your inline skates, the Rollerex Glowrider LED Light Up Wheels are an excellent choice.

Buying light-up wheels isn’t just about how dazzling they look while skating. Make sure you consider the quality of the bearings and the wheel materials.

Choose your favorite light-up roller skate wheels and make that floor glow!
